KEROVNIAN: From the Depths of Haron Release year: 2001 Format: CD Tracklist: 1: Dripping in the Form of Styx 06:46 Total Length: 50:35 min General Facts: Kerovnian comes from England and it is the musical project of Vlad.K who once played Black Metal music. From the depths of Haron is his second album, following the debut Far Beyond, Before the Time which was released by Cold Spring in 1999. Review: From the depths of Haron is is composed of very deep, yet clear Dark Ambient without the the usual emphasis on drones. I think it is very nice to see that not all Dark Ambient musicians are limiting themselves to the use of drones and instead experimenting with other means of ambiental ingredients. Kerovnian works more with samples and synthesizer bank sounds and creates an absolute tour de force through extremly obscure and haunting atmospheres. The music seems to completely permeate the listener in a most undulating fashion, leaving one completely captivated while the music meets resonance in the subconscious parts of the human mind. As much as this music go in unity with the deeper recesses of the soul, it paints vivid images of the darker recesses of the world beneath our feet. I think there's a very subterranean feel to this entire album and I visualize going through subterranean sancturies and abandoned mines while hearing this. I hear dripping water sending out hollow echoes, low cracklings and rumblings and always; the presence of something unidentified seems to be just around the corner The deformed vocal samples add a chilling touch to it all and in The Worm of the Broken Urn, the very ample darkness which the music is suggesting has established itself perfectly. Then all of a sudden, a very somber string part enters the scene in Let Yourself to Float... to the Flute of Death and along with the female vocals, a very melancholic mood is established. the Litany of a Lonely Corpse then adds a more twisted touch to the music before it ones again ventures back into more desolate regions with the most drone based tracks of this album. Eventually it ends with the solemn A Cry From the Maze, a very beatiful ending piece. From the Depths of Haron is absolutely excellent music, ingenious in its unity between sonorous and twisted Dark Ambientsoundscapes. Highly recommended. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Click here to enter the Kerovian homepage - Click here to contact Kerovnian |
