Miserere is recorded in Erebus Odora, The studio of Peter Petterson (Arcana, Sophia) who has also appeared on the album as a guest musician/composer. It has also got a piece contributed by Gustaf Hildebrand of Lithivm, who also have an album planned for Cold Meat Industry.

Review:

Well, we certainly aren't running short of Dark Neo-Classical/Industrial releases from Cold Meat Industry these days. The recent re-issuings of the old In Slaughter Natives CD's along with the ever-increasing rampages of Sophia have created a stable supply of dark, bombastic music and Karjalan Sissit is the latest addition to this roster. There seem to be a market for this type of music, in underground proportions of course.

Miserere continues where the debut left us, presenting more epic pieces of Heavy Industrial entwined with Neo-Classical string sections. Displaying a steady evolution - Miserere is far more sophisticated than the debut that sometimes lacked complicity. The sound is also more unique this time even though the comparison to Sophia remain. The music actually kind of makes me think of fusion between late Sophia and Instrumental Puissance and like Sophia, it seems like Karjalan Sissit has adopted a more cynical approach lately. The music is encompassed by a variety of samples, both in Finnish and English that give character to each song.

If I have yet to become tired yet of menacing rhythms, leaden string parts and stark, Industrial metal-grindings - Karjalan Sissit surely won't help me towards this goal. Instead, this music only whets my appetite and bestows upon me, a wolf's hunger, making me crave for more.

A promising project that shouldn't be overlooked. Karjalan Sissit may not always be chartering unknown territories but surely, Miserere is enrichening an already established genre
