DAS ICH: Anti' Christ Release year: 2002 Format: CD Tracklist: 1: Engel 04:15 General Facts: Das Ich shouldn't need any bigger introduction. Antichrist is their 13th album. This version of the CD is the American edition which comes with an extra remix of the second track Keimzeit. Review: The 13th Das Ich album follow in the same footsteps as most of the other stuff I've heard by this project, meaning that it is somekind of Darkwave/EBM fusion with Neo-Classical elements. Yet I sense a slight evolution towards more danceable music and that the most natural environment for this type music would be that of a club. Whether or not this is a positive evolution could of course be argued but for me, it feels like I rather stick to their older stuff, for example the excellent Die Propheten. When it comes to Anti' Christ, my impression is that what ever is Das Ich is certainly to be heard in most tracks, yet this album is somewhat less obscure than the older stuff. For example in track Sodom und Gomorra where the clean sung chorus almost give the track a pop-like feel, which I dislike. On the other hand, tracks like Der Achte Tag, Das dunkle Land and Tor Zur Hölle present music more akin to the positive expectations I had when I first come across this CD. Das Ich's sound is certainly unique, the way they mix Neo-Classical string parts with electronic music into very danceable and uplifting music is absolutely great, yet I sort of miss the slightly dirtier sound of their older stuff. I guess it is a somewhat unaviodable aspect when a band has released 13albums, that some fans and critics will argue over slight changes in the sound.
