General Facts:

Alio Die is the musical project of Stefano Musso, an Italian musician who lives in a small village in the mountains of Lunigiana where he finds inspiration in the surrounding nature. The first edition of The Way of Fire was released in 1998 in a limited edition of 250 copies. It was released on mint-green vinyl with handmade cover-artwork consisting of paint, stamps, pieces of newspaper, feathers and plants - every copy had a unique cover. The second edition was released in April 2002 and it is limited to 300 copies on multicoloured vinyls with printed covers. Stefano Musso is also behind the ambient dream music label Hic Sunt Leones.

Review:

The Way of Fire is described as a "journey into the realms of untouched nature" in the promotional info-sheet and I couldn't agree more. What first struck me with The Way of Fire was the very natural feel to the music. It has a quite gloomy, meditative touch and the sound is relatively soft and organic. It has a lot of substance and it is intriguing to perceive how this music moves out from the speakers and bestows a calm and relaxed, yet somewhat arcane atmosphere on the listening environment. Whether it be the drifting ambience and organic sounds of the eventful title-track, or the serene drones, minimal metal clings and moaning sound textures of the misty Thank You Lucky Star, The Way of Fire surely has a very enthralling effect upon the listener.

This is truly magnificent atmospheric music. Excellent to just close your eyes and let your thoughts fly away and dream to. People into serene Dark Ambient or calm Experimental Noise ought to give this release a listen. A genuine quality release.
